Ash Brownsword

Senior Commercial Trader

Ash is the beating heart of the yard. With over 22 years in the waste and recycling industry, he brings a wealth of experience and a no-nonsense approach to everything he does.

He’s not just behind the scenes either—Ash is out there building relationships, managing deals, and making sure the commercial side of CB Pugh runs like clockwork. If you’ve dealt with us, you’ve probably dealt with Ash.

If you’re in the area, drop in and say hello – or scroll through our TikTok, you’re sure to find him there!

Qualifications? He’s WAMITAB certified—a recognised benchmark in the industry that proves he knows his stuff and does things by the book.

Ash runs our very popular TikTok account, and manages to get recognised wherever he goes. Fun skits, information about sorting metal, weighing in—he does the lot! Some say he’s a bit of a TikTok sensation (mainly him, to be fair).

Coventry City (yes, he’s stuck with them through thick and thin)

“If I’m standing still, something’s gone wrong. I like to be in the thick of it—phones ringing, yard buzzing, deals getting done. That’s a proper day’s work.” — Ash Brownsword

With 16 years’ experience in events management and account management in the waste sector – and the last 8 years in scrap metal – Charlie knows how to keep things running like clockwork!

At CB Pugh, he runs a tight ship. The yard is always buzzing with activity, but his dedication to efficiency, hard work, and precision keeps everything moving smoothly. He also oversees our transport operation, making sure materials get to the right place at the right time.

Charlie’s wealth of experience and strong work ethic are at the heart of how we operate every single day.

And yes… if you see the lads grafting their socks off in the yard, even on a scorching day like today, it’s probably because Charlie’s watching.

A keen bodybuilder, he’s as committed to the gym and clean eating as he is to keeping our yard in top shape.

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that defines us.”

David Gilbert

Trader

Dave has been at CB Pugh for over 4 years now, buying and selling scrap metal and expanding into new materials like DVDs, various plastics and electronic components. In that time, he has helped grow our export markets, built up strong contacts across the UK, and pushed up the volumes we handle

Day to day, he deals with merchants, factories and processing plants, buying and selling materials that can be given a second life through our vast network of customers across the country.

With over 28 years in the metal recycling industry, he’s seen a lot of change, but one thing stays the same – there’s always another deal to be done.

If you’ve got materials to move or want to connect, drop me a message – always happy to talk scrap.

Dave has two bronze medals in two different weight classes of British Open Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

“Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance.”

For the past 7.5 years, Wendy has been the steady hand behind the numbers at CB Pugh’s. Known for her precision, conscientiousness, and unwavering professionalism, Wendy makes sure everything in the accounts department runs smoothly. From keeping the books balanced to supporting the wider team, she’s the one who makes sure the details are always spot on.

Reliable, approachable, and always ready to help – we’re lucky to have Wendy keeping the rhythm at CB Pugh.

Wendy used to play the drums! – which probably explains why she’s so good at keeping everything in time and never missing a beat in the accounts!

“Life is like accounting, everything must be balanced.”

David Blews

Yard Supervisor

One year and four months ago, Baby David (as he’s affectionately known around the yard) joined us – and he’s already proved himself to be a vital part of the team.

From day one, David showed he was eager to learn and quick to pick things up. With his great attitude and constant smile, he soon rose to the role of Yard Supervisor. Now, he’s right at the heart of daily operations – driving the forklift, checking and signing off loads, and supporting the Yard Manager to keep everything running like clockwork.

He’s got the kind of character you want on your side – hardworking, approachable, and always up for a laugh while making sure the job gets done.

David’s energy, commitment, and positive spirit make him a real asset – and we’re lucky to have him driving the yard forward every day.

When he’s not keeping order in the yard, David enjoys his boxing. He’s even had a few fights at amateur level – and now he brings that discipline, focus, and determination to the role!

“Teamwork makes the dream work.”
