Wide range of Steel Grades Available

At Chas Pugh Scrap Metal, we deal with a huge range of steel grades which we buy and sell. We understand that steel is one of the most commonly recycled materials in the UK, favoured for its strength and versatility within applications and its grades are used to classify different types of steel based on their composition, thickness, size and level of contamination.

Steel is generally categorised into different grades based on:

  • Thickness and size
  • Cleanliness (the extent to which is free of plastic, rubber or concrete)
  • Density and weight
  • Whether it has been processed

Common Steel Grades which we handle

Some of the more common steel grades which we buy and sell are:

  • Shearing (Large and Heavy Steel Scrap)
  • Light Steel & Light Iron
  • Shreddable Steel
  • Clippings, Punchings & Offcuts
  • Swarf & Turnings
  • Cast Iron & Heavy Components

If you need help identifying your scrap steel, bring it in and speak with one of our friendly experts who will then assess and grade it for you.
